      蚂蚁在蛀茎害虫的综合治理方面发挥着重要的作用。全球分布性的入侵蚂蚁红火蚁取食多种无脊椎动物并在入侵区域成为优势物种。但是目前尚不清楚红火蚁对玉米重要害虫亚洲玉米螟的捕食作用。本文在实验室和野外条件下研究红火蚁对亚洲玉米螟的觅食和捕食行为。研究显示,对于隐藏度低的亚洲玉米螟,红火蚁发现该害虫的时间约为40s,召集时间少于1 h。对于隐藏度高的亚洲玉米螟,红火蚁发现该害虫的时间超过26 min,召集时间接近6 h。野外实验显示,红火蚁可以降低玉米中后期生长阶段中50%的亚洲玉米螟卵块、94.1%的亚洲玉米螟幼虫和92.9%亚洲玉米螟蛀食孔。研究提供更多的视角理解红火蚁对生物多样性影响。
英文摘要:
      Ants can serve an important role in the integrated management of stem borers, especially aggressive ant species. Solenopsis invicta, a globally distributed invasive ant, preys upon a wide range of invertebrates and becomes a dominating species in the infested area. However, it is not clear whether S. invicta can be an efficient predator for Ostrinia furnacalis. In this study, we tested the foraging and preying behavior of S. invicta on O. furnacalis under laboratory and field conditions. When confronted with the low hidden degree of O. furnacalis, the searching time consumed by S. invicta was about 40 s and the recruitment time was less than 1 h, in which workers decreased rapidly. By contrast, under the high hidden degree, searching time was more than 26 min, recruitment time was nearly 6 h, and workers decreased significantly after 12 h. In field, nearly 50% egg masses, 94.1% larvae, and 92.9% stalk cavities of O. furnacalis decreased significantly in the middle and late growth stages of corn because of the presence of S. invicta. Our results would provide new insights on the effects of S. invicta on biodiversity.
