Scotogramma trifoliiRottemberg is a polyphagous insect pest with a wide host range. The population dynamics and mating characteristics of this specie in oasis agroecosystems have been rarely documented. In this study, we monitored the population dynamics of S.trifolii in the Kuerle region for three consecutive years (from April to September 2013-2015) using intelligent monitoring system. Spermatophore of female moths was dissected to assess the mating success of moths. We found that S.trifolii showed similar population dynamics among three years. However, the abundance varied within each year, and the population peaked in mid late April, mid late June and late July. The mating frequency reached an average of 2.7 times per individual. There is a certain proportion of unsuccessful mating female moths, the rate of mating success ranged from 55.56% to 97.37%(less than 60% in 2013 and 2015, more than 80% in 2014). This study assessed the mating status and population dynamics of S.trifolii in the field, which offered a scientific basis for the integrated control of this pest in oasis farmland.
