1. Scope of Publication

The journal mainly publishes research articles on significant basic theoretical and applied research in entomology and its various sub-disciplines. It also features high-quality review articles reflecting the current trends in modern entomology. Priority is given to research on the development and utilization of beneficial insects, such as natural enemy, resource insects, medicinal insects, and environmental indicator insects. Columns of the journal includes special columns, research articles, brief research communications, review articles, techniques and methods, etc.

2. Submission Guidelines

(1) The journal only accepts original submissions. Multiple submissions are prohibited. Please attach a recommendation letter from the first author's affiliation, which must state "This manuscript has been reviewed and it does not involve multiple submissions or disclosure of confidential information", otherwise the manuscript will not be accepted. If there is a corresponding author, the author's signature must be attached to acknowledge the submission. In addition, please provide detailed contact information, including address, phone number, and email address, for the first author and the corresponding author.

(2) Manuscripts will only be processed if they comply with the requirements of this page. Typically, a decision on acceptance will be made and communicated to the author within 3 months of receipt of the manuscript. (6) After a manuscript is accepted, the author must pay a publication fee (CNY 500 per page) and a review fee (CNY 200 per article), with no additional charges. After the article is published, the journal will pay the author a remuneration (including the copyright transfer fee). The dates for remittance of article publication fees and receipt of remuneration can be registered in the relevant sections of the submission system.

3. Submission Process

(1) Submission Method: The journal implements online submissions. Please click on "Author Login" on the homepage of the official website and submit your manuscript after a successful login.

(2) Filling in Manuscript Information: Please fill in the information accurately as required. Fields marked with * are mandatory; to improve the efficiency of external review of manuscripts, authors are also required to recommend two or more experts in related research directions for reference by the editorial office.

(3) Filling in or Modifying Author Information: Each article must have a submitting author and a corresponding author, which can be the same person. It is recommended that the submitting author also serves as the corresponding author for ease of contact. If necessary, author information can be modified at any time in the manuscript query section.

(4) Uploading Manuscript and Attachments: Upload the manuscript and related attachments to the system. After successful upload, the author will receive an automatic acknowledgment of receipt from the system.

(5) Inquiry about Manuscript Processing Progress: Log in to the system and enter the manuscript query section.

(6) Modifying the Manuscript:

① If the editorial office has not yet processed the manuscript, you can modify the manuscript information at any time in the manuscript query section.

② If the editorial office has already processed the manuscript, it must be returned for revision before any modifications can be made. Please log in to the submission system, click on the [Upload/Download Revision] submenu under the [Manuscript Management] menu, and find the manuscript. First, download (open) the original text to check if the editorial office has made any direct comments or modifications. You can then upload the revised manuscript or additional content using the [Modify] function. Please do not use the submission function to submit this manuscript again, as it will be treated as a new submission, and any existing review results will be voided.

4. Manuscript Requirements

4.1 Content Requirements

① The content should be complete, with clear arguments, reliable data, and concise, fluent writing. References should include the sources of cited materials, and the preservation of national secrets is the responsibility of the author. The author is responsible for the content.

② For Chinese manuscripts, the names of insects and terminology should refer to the "Chinese Terms in Entomology" published by China National Committee for Terminology in Science and Technology in 2000. For other terms and names, relevant standards should be followed; in the absence of standards, the most widely and longest used terms and names with correct meanings should be used.

③ The title of the manuscript should be accurate and concise. For systematic papers, the title should include the class, order, and family names of the taxonomic unit being studied. The abstract should include the purpose of the study, key methods, main results, and conclusions. Keywords should reflect the scope of the manuscript's content, referring to the subject terms listed in Entomology Abstracts (EA) to facilitate computer retrieval and should not be phrases. Specimens observed should indicate their repository, and nucleotide sequences should provide the nucleic acid sequence numbers registered with international nucleic-acid databases.

4.2 Formatting Requirements

Text: Manuscripts should be typed in 10.5-point Song font on A4 paper with double-line spacing. Both Chinese and English titles, author names, affiliations (including city and postal code), abstracts, and 5–8 keywords must be provided before the main text. For English manuscripts, the above information should also be included in Chinese on a separate page. The first page footnote must include the project funding details (name and grant number) and a brief biography of the first author, including name, gender, date of birth, place of origin, academic degree, professional title, research field, and email address. Follow national standards for the use of measurement units, simplified Chinese characters, and punctuation marks. Acronyms should be spelled out in full (both Chinese and English) when first introduced. Avoid using acronyms in titles and minimize their use in abstracts. Foreign names should retain their original spelling. Clearly distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters, italics, superscripts, and subscripts. Chinese names and place names should be transliterated using Pinyin. Titles, figure captions, and table legends must include English translations. For biological names below the family level, Latin names must be provided upon first mention.

Tables, Figures, and Photographs: Tables should follow the three-line table format. Figures must be drawn on graph paper using black ink or printed with high-quality laser printers. Ensure lines are clear and consistent, with a width of either 8 cm (single-column) or 14–16 cm (double-column). Use varying line thicknesses: coordinate and guide lines should be 0.13–0.25 mm, while function curves should range from 0.25–0.5 mm. All text in figures must use consistent font and size, specifically 6-point Song font. Provide a clean photocopy of each figure. Photographs should be printed on glossy paper, with clear gradation, moderate contrast, and no creases. Include a scale bar to indicate the actual size of the subject. Ensure appropriate sizes for illustrations and photographs. Submit illustrations on separate pages appended to the manuscript. Mark the placement of each figure in the manuscript by drawing a box at the corresponding location, and include the figure number, title, and caption below the box. Captions should be concise and precise.

③ References: The citation of references should comply with international and national copyright regulations. In the text, citations should be noted within parentheses, including the author's name and the year of publication. For references with two authors, use "and" (for Chinese literature) or "and" (for foreign literature) to connect them. For references with three or more authors, only the first author's name should be given, followed by "et al." (for Chinese literature) or "et al." (for foreign literature). For Western authors, only the surname is required. The reference list at the end of the document should follow the "author - publication year" system, listing the names of the first three authors in alphabetical order, and only including references that are cited in the text and have been published; unpublished materials should not be included. Chinese references must have English counterparts, with the English version first, followed by the Chinese version in square brackets. The name of the publication in both Chinese and English should be written without abbreviations.
