红火蚁Solenopsis invicta Buren是一种攻击性很强的外来入侵物种,入侵后在短期内就成为当地的优势物种。为探明红火蚁在不同生境下受到干扰后的活动能力,本研究使用刻度图示法,记录了夏冬两季期间干扰草坪、香蕉园、荒草地3种不同生境中的蚁巢后工蚁的垂直爬行高度,使用工蚁的爬行高度来评估红火蚁的活动能力。结果表明,红火蚁工蚁的爬行高度与生境、季节和干扰后时间相关。工蚁的爬行高度随干扰后时间的变化出现先上升后下降的规律。夏季香蕉园的工蚁爬行高度最高,100 s时达到29.37 cm,活动性最强;冬季草坪的工蚁爬行高度最低,20 s时为1.1 cm,活动能力最弱。在蚁巢受干扰后,夏季的工蚁反应速度和爬行高度明显大于冬季的。本研究还通过建立红火蚁工蚁爬行高度与干扰时间之间的多个模型,量化了蚁巢受到扰动后工蚁的活动能力,为红火蚁的科学监测和准确防控提供了一定的指导依据。 |

The red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren is a highly aggressive invasive species which can become the dominant species in its newly invaded areas rapidly. This study aims to elucidate the activity levels of red imported fire ant workers in response to disturbances across different habitats. Ruler-mark method was applied to evaluate the activity capability of red imported fire ant workers after nest being disturbed in lawn, wasteland, banana orchard habitats during the summer and winter seasons. The higher average height which workers reached on ruler, the higher their activity capability had after nest being disturbed. The results indicated that the height reached by red imported fire ant workers was related to habitat type, seasonal variations, and the time elapsed after being disturbed. A pattern of initial increase followed by a decrease in height of reach was observed as time elapsed post-disturbance. Worker ants in the banana orchards had the highest height of reach in summer, reaching 29.37 cm at 100 seconds, with the highest activity, while those on winter lawns exhibited the lowest height of reach, reaching 1.1 cm at 20 seconds, with the lowest activity. After nest being disturbed, the average height workers reached was higher in summer than that in winter, meanwhile, the time that workers responded to disturbance was shorter in summer than that in winter. Multiple models were developed to describe the relationship between the average climbing height workers reached and duration after being disturbed in this study which can offer guidance for the scientific monitoring and precise control of red imported fire ant. |
