Kashi is an important production area of Punica granatum L., investigation found that Tenuipalpus hornotinus is the dominant pest mite that harms P. granatum in the region. Upon literature review, it was found that its identification only relies on morphology, and there was no report on the DNA barcode of the mite. Due to its small size and numerous similar species, morphological identification of this mite is difficult. Therefore, this study utilized morphology combined with DNA barcode technology to achieve rapid and accurate identification of this mite. This study conducted on-site observations, collected samples, and made specimens, observing under the microscope combined with morphological data to compare and identify morphological features of this mite; meanwhile, genes such as COⅠ, ITS2 and 28S-rRNA were amplified using DNA barcode technology and sequenced, the obtained sequences were analyzed and a phylogenetic tree was constructed using MEGA7.0 software. The pest mite was identified as T. hornotinus by morphological features and the barcode sequence of the pest mite was obtained using DNA barcode technology. Rapid and accurate identification of T. hornotinus has achieved by morphology and DNA barcode technology, providing a species basis for the subsequent prevention and control of this pest mite.

http://hjkcxb.alljournals.net/hjkcxben/ch/reader/view_abstract.aspx?file_no=202502031&flag=1

With the increasing damage caused by the cotton leaf roller, Haritalodes derogata, in some regions, this study preliminarily investigated the morphological and biological characteristics of this insect at different developmental stages to improve the accuracy of field identification, prediction, and forecasting. The results showed that the eggs of H. derogata were flat and oval-shaped, with a length of 0.74 mm and a width of 0.52 mm. The egg stage lasted for 3.21 days. The egg had a reticulated shell, and the hatching rate was 94.36%. The larvae with five instars were covered with sparse bristles, and produced silk to curl leaves, causing damage. The larval stage lasts for 24.52 days. Newly hatched larvae were yellowish-white in color, gradually changing to light green, dark green, gray green and peach pink as they grew and developed. The pupae were slender and spindle-shaped, initially transparent with a pale yellowish-green hue, gradually changing to reddish-brown and black-brown. The fourth abdominal spiracle was large, and there were 7-8 caudal hooks. The pupae measured 13.89 mm in length and 3.47 mm in width, with an initial pupal weight of 81.64 mg. The weight of pupa on the day before emergence only decreased by 1.69% compared to its initial weight. The pupal stage lasted for 9.74 days. Adult emergence mainly occured during the dark period from 23:00 to 05:00. The adult antennae were filamentous, and the bodies were light yellow. The leading edge of the middle cell of the forewing had "OR"-shaped brown spots. The weights of the adult and the pupal exuviae were 33.34 mg and 17.31 mg respectively, and the total weights of both combined were 37.90% less than those of the initial pupal weight. The adult body length was 12.67 mm, with a pre-oviposition period of 3.28 days and an oviposition period of 15.33 days. A single female could lay up to 761.37 eggs, and the adult lifespan was 22.03 days. H. derogata exhibited a high egg production and a high hatching rate, posing a potential risk of outbreak in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Therefore, relevant departments should strengthen the forecasting and warning of this pest. This paper provides a detailed description of the morphological and biological characteristics of H. derogata at different instars. It provides a reference for rapid and accurate identification by grassroots pest forecasters and scientists, and provides basic information for field surveys, monitoring, and forecasting of this pest.

http://hjkcxb.alljournals.net/hjkcxben/ch/reader/view_abstract.aspx?file_no=202502032&flag=1

Larval instars of Tetramoera schistaceana and its developmental duration were clarified to study its biological and ecological characteristics, providing scientific basis for forecasting and controlling this pest. T. schistaceana fed with natural feed Zizania latifolia (Griseb.) in the laboratory were the research object in this paper. Head capsule widths and developmental periods of larvae at each larval instar were measured and analyzed by Crosby ratio, Brook ratio, frequency distribution and regression analysis. The results showed that T. schistaceana passed through five larval instars to attain its pupal stage where the head capsule widths of 1st~5th instar larvae were 0.293 mm, 0.437 mm, 0.615 mm, 0.911 mm and 1.222 mm, respectively. Their head capsule widths conformed to Dyar's law and Crosby's law. The fitting degrees of linear，quadratic and exponential fitting models between head capsule width and instar were all fine. When the coefficient of determination (R2) of the exponential fitting model was the largest, the fitting degree was the best. So head capsule widths could be used as an important indicator for larval instars determination. The mean instars of 1st~5th instar larvae were 2.766 d , 2.913 d , 3.107 d , 3.413 d , and 8.860 d respectively at 26℃. T. schistaceana larvae had five instars. The head capsule width was an important index for distinguishing the larval instar of T. schistaceana. From egg hatching to pupation, female and male larvae needed 20.265 d and 19.250 d on average at 26℃, respectively.

http://hjkcxb.alljournals.net/hjkcxben/ch/reader/view_abstract.aspx?file_no=202502033&flag=1

To comprehend the resource value, research status, and developmental trends of Bethylidae insects，relevant literatures on Bethylidae insect research were searched in core database in Web of Science. Employing the R language bibliometric analysis program package bibliometric and the literature visualization and analysis software CiteSpace, we conducted bibliometric and knowledge mapping analyses in terms of temporal trend of literature outputs, the distribution of countries / regions and research institutes, journal distribution, temporal dynamics of keywords, and hotspots of research and developmental changes. The findings indicated a linear growth trend in research literature related to Bethylidae insects over the past two decades. The countries leading in the number of publications were Brazil, China, United States and the United Kingdom, where Brazil had the largest cumulative number of publications, followed by China. Major contributions had come from institutes including Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo, United States Department of Agriculture, and Zhejiang University. The 317 retrieved papers primarily originated from renowned journals in the fields of Zoology and Entomology, including Zootaxa, Biological Control, Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, and Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology. The researches on Bethylidae had experienced a gradual diversification, where a considerable amount of researches had been carried out over a relatively long period of time on four key subject headings: biological control, new species identification, evolution, and behavior. Current hotspots in Bethylidae research encompassed phylogeny, Hymenoptera parasitic wasps, molecular systematics, and so on. Bethylidae insects had demonstrated significant value in integrated biological control and were poised for more in-depth studies, particularly in exploring molecular mechanisms. This overview provides a comprehensive depiction of the current research status and developmental trends of Bethylidae insects from the perspective of published papers, aiming to foster further exploration in this field and offer valuable insights to researchers.
